Hello everyone
This is my first post so thought I'd document the progress of cleaning up and drying out my R53. I purchased the car on the 28th November 2014 from a mechanics, the car had no service history but due to the fact it was owned by a mechanic this didn't really worry me! The car is a 2003 and has done 73,000 Miles, the power steering has been replaced and the clutch, the supercharger has been serviced and so has the car! Full years mot and all new tyres. Car has the Chilli pack and Sat Nav, Although I will probably need to replace the Sat Nav, its the DVD one so if anyone has one for sale please let me know.
Anyway the seller had disconnected the battery as he didn't want it to drain... Not a good idea!
The windows drop when the battery is disconnected and the rain flooded in!
The guy sold the car as spares and repairs as he thought there was a major electronics issue and the BC1 was wrecked.
In my past life I was an electronic engineer so thought 'I could fix that'.
I bought the car for a song. On the Saturday I set about fixing the car... Mechanically the car is perfect and I did manage drive it home even though the lights were pretty intermittent!
Link below will show just how bad it was!
Won't allow me to add a link :/ but if you type 'R53 water ingress' in youtube you will see just how bad the water in the car was!
Before I removed the carpet...

Once the carpet was removed from the car I used the carpet machine to suck as much water out as possible.
After removing the carpet...

I took the carpet inside the house and stuck it in the spare room to properly dry it out, I also took the seats as I wanted to carpet clean the whole lot just to spruce them up!
And the finished results...

I also reconditioned the leather seats with conditioner etc! They've come up great!
Now as for the electrics I took the BC1 out and completely dried it out and tested the PCB which checked out fine I also checked the wiring and completely dried the loom out!
Everything now works as it should and there is no fault whatsoever! Very pleased and LUCKY! :)
I will pop some more pics up once I have fitted the carpet and seats which I will do this weekend.
I'm going to be water proofing the loom and BC1 before I refit the carpet, I'll be taking some pics of that also.
Hope I've not bored you all.
Thanks
Nick :D
