Valeo SMF Clutch Upgrade thoughts?

The clutch is starting to get a bit heavy for my liking so looking to throw a new one in there at the end of the month. Wanted to know if anyone had done the SMF valeo kit. I heard good things about it and as i'm looking to up power later wanted to hear peoples thoughts on it. My only concern is that it will harm the power delivery and cause vibrations at idle. Has anyone done the upgrade? Care to share your experiences?

Hi,

New to the mini world.
got £12k budget and looking at used mini cooper.

a must - auto, petrol, reasonable mileage and age

So far I've seen one in the used website for a Dec 2014 model

I noticed that a few sites advised not to go near the automatic models.
Anyone has one and experience any issues? Please advise.

Petrol mainly because of the current issue with diesel cars.

Thanks.

For anyone thinking of selling - I'm hoping to find a really good example of an R53 stock or with some mods.

Ideally in British Racing Green or Dark Grey.
Modifications are not an issue, but I'd like to ability to upgrade myself.
No significant bodywork issues i.e. rust, prangs etc
Mileage below 100k (Ideally around 60k, FSH and min 6 months MOT).
Will pay up to 5k for the right car

Just joined having recently bought 2x minis. Yellow 05 One for my daughters first car and a smart Silver & Black 08 Cooper D for my missus. Love the way they go but we've already got gip with the dooper. Typical lack of power on hills. Found loads of relevant threads here so now for some research.

Got a strange issue 58 Cooper D (one of many with this car).
When I have the aircon on I only get cold air from the passenger side face vents, if I want hot air it comes out all 4 vents when aircon is on you still get air from the drivers side vents just not chilled, I guess they have ducting back to the blower so don't get why this is happening, anyone got an idea?

Which petrol engine

Hi, we currently have a 1.6 Cooper (2006) which we believe has blown its piston rings and is beyond economical repair...

We are looking to replace with another mini but with all the issues we have had with the 1.6 prince engine (timing chain, vanos, coking up, oil consumption and finally piston rings) we do not want the same engine again.

We really like the countryman but they only seem to come with the 1.6 motor, as far as I know this is the same as the one we have in our current mini, is this true?

Did they update the 1.6 at all? Someone mentioned they improved after 2010?

Diesel is out of the question as we do very few miles

Thanks,
Mark

Hi everyone, we've had a mini now for 6 years, a 1.6 mini cooper (2006)

Its finally given up, we believe piston rings are fried 😞

Looking for a new mini, ideally a countryman (want 5 doors and a bigger boot this time)

I have posted in the countryman forum as I have an engine question but thought I'd say hi 🙂

Countryman Recall for Fuel Pump Protection Plate

Very excited to own first Mini. Mini Countryman ALL4 2018 with 9Kmiles on it.

Mini Dealer cannot release it to me? Evidently, as of 8/20/18 a "recall" placed on all Mini Countrymans '17, '18 & '19 models.
Dealer knows very little about this. I typed VIN # into Safety & Emission Recalls page at Miniusa.com but it has not been updated since 8/17. I phoned Customer Relations, and told this was for a "collision protection plate for the fuel pump" and that it is a new part, new addition for the car. No public-facing notices of the recall will be issued until they have more information on the solution.

So will I be waiting weeks, months or years? Anybody else in the same boat? (Hard to watch the end-of-month blizzard of Mini Countryman advertisements.)

Driving Lights with Adaptive LED Headlights - 2019

$

Hi.

I'm thinking about adding the LED Driving Ligths to my Mini. The new version of these lights works like the old version for the R56 minis used to: it's linked to the high beam. My doubt is how this new version would work with the Adaptive LED Headlights equipped Minis...
If I turn on the high beam and if the car senses traffic ahead it can change the pattern of the light to avoid problems with approaching cars etc. But how does the LED Driving lights works on this scenario? Until now I was not able to get information regarding this: would the LED Driving turn off in the situation that part of the headlight is turned off and part remains on high beam? Would it be turned off to avoid the problems the Matrix Headlights are there to fix? Do anyone here have a car equipped with both can verify?

Thanks!

R56 seats in R57?

Hi all,

Long time lurker, first time poster!

A quick question that hopefully someone can answer, will R56 seats fit in an R57?

I'm looking at getting some leather ones from eBay and will do the job myself. Hoping it's just a case of swapping out the current half leather heated seats and replacing with the new ones.

I've seen that airbags and ecu coding can also be an issue. If there's any tips please let me know!

Many thanks ::smile::

R56 Auxilary Spot Lamps

I wonder if anybody can advise regarding the wiring of the OEM auxiliary spot lamps on a xenon equipped R56 (uk)?
The pic below is a screen shot of the pdf instructions showing the OEM wiring harness.
Now I don’t and didn’t expect to have A10 as it’s not applicable for UK cars but I was surprised to find no A11 or A12.
I have all wires that came with the harness connected including A1 inserted into pin 4 of the lower socket in the footwell module.
As it stands the spot lamps do not operate so I’m assuming it’s something to do with not having cables A11 and 12? Any thoughts??

TIA 👍🏼

How many Gen 1 JCWs are there??

$

To the R52/R53 JCW Peoples(US for now, I suppose I could add our brethren from "across the pond" in on it)--Ive searched and looked high and low(if this has been done, please let me know)... since the JCW package was dealer install,as far as i know, they were not tracked. Maybe Mini dealers have a number of how many were sold; but... as intrusive as this may sound, i want to see if maybe, just maybe we can find sequential kit#s and how few(rare) the kit is by creating an excel spreadsheet of kit#s, location of (possible) install, year, and r52/53. No vin, or PII.

ill ante with S3913, san diego(i think), 2004, R53.

it may take a while as this is only one outlet, people arnt active in posting/reading, and i get sidetracked like it's cool. But if this does kick off pretty decently i will keep my #s updated with you all.--as of now i have 11 and I know that there are more out there.
