MINI Genuine 17" Flame Spoke R97 Wheels and Tyres Pirelli PZero

I am selling my 17" FLame Spoke alloys. I have recently bought the car, as seen in the photos and I have upgraded to 18" wheels, hence the reason for sale.

The wheels are generally in average condition. They have been DIY'd refurbished in the past, which actually doesn't look that bad. The tyre depths are as follows:

Nearside Front: 2.6mm
Nearside Rear: 5.2mm
Offside Front: 3.6mm
Offside Rear: 4.0mm

The tyres sizes are 205/45/17

The offset for the wheels is ET48.

Wheels and Tyres located in Brentwood, Essex.

Would glow plug relay fault block DPF regen?

2007 1.6 Cooper D

I've been trying and failing to reset the DPF additive level using DIS this evening.

In the course of doing that I have come across a fault code:

"DDE - 4159 DDE Glow-plug relay, supply, glow plugs - Relay stuck or short circuit in glow plug or over"

2 Questions:

1. Would this fault prevent a Dooper from regenerating?
2. Can someone translate that message into simple English so I know what I need to buy/do?

For better or worse, I've picked up a 2003 Cooper S 6-speed with 170k for relatively cheap. Most of it's falling apart and there's rust on half the panels, plus the exhaust has been chopped up and it's incredibly loud. Still having a lot of fun driving it though. I'm planning to clean up what I can of the rust and damaged features like a rear wiper which is missing entirely (!) so I'll probably need all the help I can get. Any advice for issues to look for? I may need tire recommendations too, as it's currently sitting on snow tires... :serious:

Gearbox issue 1st to 2nd

Hi, I have a 2014 R58 with manual gearbox with 12000 miles.
When I change from 1st to 2nd it "crunches" into second. I can get it into 2nd without the crunch if I change very slowly.(That is when I move out of 1st slight pause until I feel it move to neutral then move to 2nd.) All other changes are fine.
I purchased it as an approved used "cherished" from MINI and still have 5 month used car warranty from MINI.
Has anyone got any recommendations?

R56 timing chain tensioner

Hi all,

Probably been asked before but looking to get the timing chain tensioner changed due to having a small rattle when starting a cold car, i suspect that the timing chain tensioner will need to be replaced (now done 88k miles - and also having to have the turbo replaced after it failed!)

Does any know of a good of a good mechanic they could recommend in the Oxfordshire area?

Many thanks in advance

WANTED: Timing Tool for R56 N14

Anybody bought one of these and want to re-coupe a bit of the cost?

I know they are only £35 on eBay but good to pass on an otherwise unused tool.

OR could anyone near Gillingham, Kent let me borrow one for a weekend?

I also need the special spanner for the aux belt tensioner, although I might just make one.

Thanks,
Simon

Recall Notice - Auxiliary Coolant Pump

Received a letter today informing me of a recall on the Auxiliary Coolant Pump (for the Turbo) on my 2011 MCS.

I don't know if this is a coincidence but a week or two ago, I checked on the Government website for recalls for my car (just pop in your reg number) and it did show that there was a recall notice. It didn't say what it was though. Then this morning I received a letter with MOTOR VEHICLE RECALL NOTICE stamped in red on the envelope. It seems that the letter has come from BMW/MINI themselves. It says that a short circuit fault with the pump could cause a fault message about insufficient cooling and could cause a potential fire. My car has been throwing up Reduced Power messages and High Emission messages so I suspected the fuel pump to be on its way out but I'm kinda hoping that the faulty auxiliary coolant pump is the issue.

Worth checking on the Government website though, I'd be surprised if BMW/MINI are sending letters out of the kindness of their hearts.

Help! Rear panoramic roof glass broken

Hi! I own a 2006 R50 with over 140,000 miles and I like it a lot. But, the other day as we were driving on the I-5 rock hit the car and we couldn't distinguish where. No crack on the windshield so we assumed it was probably body panel. Few minutes later, it turned up to be the smaller (stationary) roof glass as it presented a hole but it didn't shatter completely so I was able to duck-tape it.

I called dealership and they said that glass is part of the entire assembly and cost for repair will be $1,942! There is no way I can afford that so I'm reaching to this community for suggestions and knowledge about how to do it myself or if there's a place I can have it done for less money. (BTW, I'm in Portland, OR)

Thank you all in advance!

I've just placed a order for a new Mini Countryman (F60) in Island Blue. I've been told that the car is scheduled to go into production around mid-April, with expected delivery towards end of May.

Let's see how it goes!

Hi Guys I have a weird problem with my 2006 Mini Cooper automatic. The car when you are running are all fine when you are under 30mph and get the foot out of the acceleration pedal the car was like he brake from him self. It's like down shift but the transmission its all right, the only trouble troublecode is P0456. It's nothing to do with the fault.

Please help me no one here in my city can get to the fix 😔.

Another thing when I turn off the car smells like brake pads.

new cars by 2020 to be speed restricted

this could be a good reason for get away from the EU when EU law will be all new cars from 2020 will be speed/power controlled via sat and black box, the other thing thats not said is this will allow them to trace every car with it fitted,
all them track days gone. own a powerful car waste of time,, just the final nail in the motor trade i feel, as people will just decide might as well buy the smallest slowest cheapest car they can find, all the fun of life being sucked out by EU

prince engine camchain tension-er differences pre/post 2010

$

below is pic of timing chain tensioner for gen 2 and 3 prince engines 1.4 1.6 1.6 turbo including n18 have as standard the longer updated tensioner,, not really a cure just moves the real problem down the road somewhat, ie rather than pre 2010 cars where dropping around 50k the later ones had longer tensioner so would give another few thousand miles, but the bite back on this was that a engine run for 30k with retarded timing would cause all kinds of heat issues and 02 sensors and cats getting burnt out etc, ie longer tensioner just stops early rattle but not the real problem of chocolate chains that are not up to the job and stretch still same chains..
so its possible when changing a timing chain kit to buy a FAI kit with out the tensioner that comes with it in bigger kits and fit the later tenioner with that kit the best of all worlds from them on. ie by factory chain tensioner

To Trade In or Not to Trade In

Greetings. I’m new to this group. I have a 2012 Mini Cooper Hardtop S that I LOVE. It has 109,000 miles on it. I need new struts and rear brake pads. The car otherwise runs like a top. It’s all paid off and I’m not crazy about the idea of taking on a new car payment. I can’t seem to make a decision. Advice welcome and appreciated. Thanks!
