For the past few months or so our car has been making a strange noise at first it started off as a ssshhhh shhhh shhh noise, when the car was started and sat still. Now the noise is much more distinctive and louder and can be heard every time the car is steered. (The noise appears to be coming from the steering column.)
The steering is now extremely heavy at low speeds (imagine driving a tractor or something with no P.A.S! ) We have checked the Power Steering Fluid level and it is absolutely fine? I am confused?
Has anyone else had such a problem or can they diagnose what the problem is? The only reason we havn't taken it to a garage is we are concerned with the cost of repair, but seein as it is getting worse and ridiculous to drive we need to get it sorted.
It is a mini cooper 02 plate
