My wife has a Mini Cooper S Convertible 2006 with an auto transmission. The gearbox has been playing up recently - sometimes during driving it just goes in a neutral like state that lasts for a second but then goes into gear... It's like it wants to shift but it doesn't and it continues.
Mini dealer hasn't been able to find the fault, it doesn't show up in the computer log. They're saying I might need a new transmission for £7k but could try changing the transmission fluid and re-program the car computer to see if it solves the problem for £300. I'm sceptical.
Has anyone else had a similar problem? :frown: Any idea if changing/topping up the fluid and the re-program solves anything?
Any experience with changing the gearbox with another used one?
