Help please:
I have a Mini One Cabriolet and last weekend it just decided to cut out on me mid reverse! No warning light, no nothing....I had been running around in the car happily for half an hour or so before it cut out.
I called the AA who diagnosed the fault to be the Alternator. New Alternator purchased and fitted but my mechanic is still having problems. Initially the car started no problem but the battery warning light remained on until he gave it some revs....it went off after 15 seconds or so. When stopping the car and starting it again, again the battery light remained on briefly! My car was taken for a good 14 mile run, the light was off but then when starting it up again later in the day it battery light was on and now STAYS ON! Power steering is lost (I'm told as there is not sufficient charge in the battery).
The garage who supplied me with the new Alternator advises it was tested before it was shipped. My mechanic advises the battery is holding its charge and so it must be an Alternator problem...and I'm stuck in the middle :(
Has anyone come across anything this before, or can anyone offer me some advise.
