On my 2006 mini the weather strip around the roof is destroyed.
Is this a common issue?
I've asked a few dealers about replacing it and have been informed that the strip is all one piece (so there are three of these thicker weather strips: right, left, and rear). The expensive part is the glue sold from MINI. Does anyone have any knowledge on how particular this glue needs to be? Do I need to buy the MINI glue or would any similar product work fine? I'm assuming its an issue of reacting with the rubber in the strip, but how big of a deal is it?
Also, the strip has had a chunk missing (the curved piece that tops the vertical member on the side of the windshield) so the roof has gotten wet a few times. Any insight into what it would take to make sure there is no mold inside the roof padding?
Thanks a lot for the help and comments
