Introduction and help with m/f steering wheel

Hello all in the Mini world, i am new to the Mini scene and have just purchased my first Mini a 2007 Cooper S :):).
Having owned my Mini for less than a week and so far very impressed with the car and thinking to myself why did'nt i get one sooner ?????
I was wondering if anyone could help with the following,
My car has the multifunction steering wheel fitted and the voice recognition button does nothing, not sure if it needs connection to a sat nav which is not fitted to my car wondering if i could get a retro kit fitted?
Also looking to have a handsfree phone kit fitted that works with the multifunction steering wheel, has anyone fitted anything that works with the car??
Not ready to do any engine mods yet but time will tell:):)
