R53 Rear Distribution Box and Exploder Valve

Morning,

First of all apologies for making my 1st post a question!

I have a '54 plate Mini cooper S (R53), which has had a massive and long term water leak into the boot, which I didn't know about until a complete loss of electrics!!

Basically it looks as if water has been sitting in my boot for years, as it had almost fully corroded the rear distribution box housing the 250A fuse. I have rebuilt the distribution box, so that is all sorted.

My problem now is that my airbag light is on, because the small connector block attached to the distribution box has also corroded, so the 2 small wires from the SRS exploder valve are not attached to anything.

Can I just connect the 2 wires together, bypassing the corroded connector, or does the connector serve some kind of purpose? Resistance to drop the voltage and remove the airbag light maybe?

I'm in a bit of a catch 22, because I can't take it to be diagnosed, without connecting everything back up, but I don't want to spend the earth connecting everything back up to find that it wasn't that in the 1st place.

Thanks in advance.

Frostie
