Hello one and all..
Today I have bought a 2002 Mini Cooper with 112,000 miles. I bought it with this fault in order to rectify it myself. The previous owner described the noise as possibly the thrust bearing. When it is stationary it is quiet even when the car is revved up so I am guessing it is gearbox/clutch/shaft related, but then when you get going on the road it is still fairly quiet at slow speeds but then when you put your foot down at around 3k revs+ the loud noise appears, it is fairly loud like a knocky/scrapping/whining noise then as soon as you dip the clutch the sound goes, release the clutch the sound comes back. If someone could point me in the right direction I would be most grateful. Car drives perfect gearbox feels lovely (I know these have a troublesome box)
Cheers,
Woddy
