The other half's sister has a 51 plate One (petrol 1.6), it's got a bit of an odd problem with coolant
It keeps emptying over journeys, but doesn't seem to have any adverse effects once empty.
For example, she drove to ours the other day (a trip of around 350 miles) with the bottle completely empty because she "didn't know what it was for or what to put in it".
Over time she keeps letting it run empty, and when it is topped up she's using ordinary tap water... :eek:
Firstly, does anyone know how she hasn't killed the engine yet?
Secondly, does anyone know why this coolant keeps disappearing and how to resolve it? Doesn't appear to have any leaks visible to the naked eye, but haven't checked for water in oil yet.
