air con noise

Hi guys,
I've got a 55 plate mini one.
I'm getting a noise when the manual air con is on. I've tried searching and there's lots of posts about air con noises but nothing that i can relate to. Most are about a water running noise but my noise actually sounds like when a cd player is trying to read a disc. The sound's coming from underneath the glove compartment.
Anyone experienced this or is this the same as the water running noise?
