I went to replace the reverse light switch on my '06 Cooper S. This is new to me, so I was not sure what to do. I was using pliers to try and take the switch off. I pulled the plastic white piece off and sprayed WD40 on it and in the hole where the plastic piece was. After looking up the part online, I saw that it was the whole part that unscrewed. 1. What would you use to get the whole thing off? A socket would not fit over the plastic piece to get to the nut. 2. Did I break the switch by taking that plastic piece off? Thanks for the help to the newbie.
