The badge on my 2005 mini was looking like it was pealing off, after a while it fell off, luckily in my pocket so I rescued it, gently cleaned the old glue off both the badge and the key.
Super glued a dob of glue on the key and carefully put the badge back on, i pressed down on it for a few mins then taped it in placed with black insulation tape over night, just to make sure it did not move.
I have seen this to be a common problem, and wish I had pulled it off when it became loose as it could have been lost.
