I recently bought a 2007 R56 MINI Cooper and after a month, it developed a problem.
Firstly, the ABS light came on. No big deal, I thought, I'll get that checked out. But then, 5 miles down the road, following lights came on;
ABS, Handbrake, Seatbelt, Airbag, Check Engine, and the Speedo has stopped working, and the Cruise Control won't work, the ABS is non-functional, the power steering appears not to be working as it's really heavy, the fuel gauge keeps going from full to empty and back again, the miles aren't clocking up and there is a problem with the key slot in that it will physically release the key but doesn't make the mechanical "releasing" noise, and it still thinks the key is in there. You can even start the car without the key (and I don't have comfort access). The only way to resolve it to put the key back in, start the car, turn it off again and then it'll release.
Since all of these problems occurred at the same time, i'm HOPING it's one thing that's malfunctioned causing all the other problems? Or did the previous owner just put a band-aid over it and the whole thing's just fallen apart?!
I have to pay MINI £90 an hour for diagnosis so I thought i'd post on here so I could give them an idea of what it was to save myself some diagnosis time!
HELP, everyone!!
