Mini Cooper and iPod

Hi All,

I live in Dubai, and i just received my new mini cooper 2012 Model last night. Been trying all night to make the new ipod nano (lightining connection) to work through the USB or AUX connection in the center console (below the cassette) but with no luck. I don't have the "fancy" system in my car (sorry don't know what it's called :)) I'm using the cable that came with my iPod but no luck, i tried the older generation nano as well with the 30 pin cable that came with it and still no luck to make it work. Is there any special cable that i have to buy or something specifically that i have to do to make it work. I'd really appreciate your feedback.
